PS8361 BASIC MACHINERY VIBRATION ANALYSIS

Overview

The Basic Machinery Vibration Course covers basic vibration theory and application to rotating machinery in the petrochemical industry.  The student is trained to use vibration technology to perform predictive maintenance to avoid catastrophic failure of machinery and to make industry more cost effective.

Designed For

This course is recommended for Mechanics and Operating personal who maintain, repair, troubleshoot and install rotating machinery.

Overview:

This course is designed to acquaint the student with the boost compressor operational characteristics and determine how various process gas properties will affect the compressor performance.  Compressor performance calculations are taught where process gas variables are interjected and analyzed to determine their effects.

PS4525  POWER GENERATION PRINCIPLES & APPLICATIONS

Overview:

Participants review the basic concepts of electrical power generation to enhance their understanding of the operations of generators in isolation, with other generators, and when on an infinite bus. Overviews are given of the major components of a generator system including switchgear, potential and current transformers. 

Designed For:

This course is recommended for package operators, maintenance technicians and supervisors.

Prerequisites:

Successful completion of generator set Operation and Routine Maintenance course or equivalent experience.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

Identify and state the function of each of the primary devices in the generator system.

  • Rotating field and brushless exciter

  • Automatic voltage regulator

  • Automatic and manual synchronizer circuits

Overview:

Through lectures and classroom discussions the participants are provided with learning experiences that will enable them to fully understand the operational and routine maintenance needs of the subsystem components.  Subsystem interface and sequencing is also stressed to enable the student to analyze cause-and-effect relationships for fault analysis.

Overview:

The Basic Machinery Alignment Course covers basic alignment theory and application to rotating machinery in the petroleum and petrochemical industry.  The student is trained using Rotalign laser alignment technology to perform alignment of horizontal and vertical rotating machinery.

Designed For:

This course is recommended for personnel who are involved with the installation and maintenance of rotating equipment and pump alignment.

Prerequisites:

None

Objectives:

 Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Do a shaft alignment to designed specifications.
  • Discuss the reasons for choice of tools.
