Overview

This course provides a hands-on approach to root cause failure analysis. It presents broken equipment for examination and diagnosis.

Designed For

This course is recommended for Maintenance Engineers, Maintenance Supervisors, Mechanics, and Facilities Engineers.

Prerequisites

Familiarity with mechanical equipment, breakdowns, and repair procedures.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Determine the most probable cause.
  • Identify the actions which will prevent recurrence.

Overview:

The Basic Machinery Alignment Course covers basic alignment theory and application to rotating machinery in the petroleum and petrochemical industry.  The student is trained using reverse dial indicator and Rotalign laser alignment technology to perform alignment of horizontal and vertical rotating machinery.

Designed For:

This course is recommended for personnel who are involved with the installation and maintenance of rotating equipment and pump alignment.

Prerequisites:

None

Objectives:

 Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  •     Do a shaft alignment to designed specifications.

  •     Discuss the reasons for choice of tools.

  •     Install Indicators and Take readings

  •     Discuss alignment tolerances (given preferred value).

  •     Demonstrate proper use of alignment tools.

  •     Discuss alignment tolerances (given preferred value).
